A Tutorial On How To Add Passport Pages to Your Passport
Jan 30th, 2010 by Dean

You are eligible to apply for additional passport pages if you fall under two categories. First, you can request to add passport pages if your passport has less than two to four pages left. On the other hand, you can also apply for additional pages if you travel regularly and are in need of a new passport book. If you fall under either of these categories, then you’ll naturally want to know how to add passport pages to your current passport.

Let’s discuss the first category first. If you are a passport holder, and your passport has less than two to four pages in it, you’ll need to request additional passport pages. But why request pages so soon? That’s because it will save you a lot of time when you do that now, rather than when you are already about to travel.

To request for additional pages, your passport must first of all be valid. If it is still valid, fill in Form DS-4085. Then you will have to mail your completed DS-4085 along with your current passport to the address specified in the form.

If you’re going through the routine passport processing, then you don’t have to pay for anything to have new U.S. passport pages. However, you can have the process expedited if you need to travel in two to four weeks’ time, which will require additional fees. Expedited passports are faster to process, and you can get your passport in around two to three weeks.

How about if you are a frequent traveler? Then you’re likely to fill in your passport pages faster than most travelers. If that is the case, you will have to request for a new passport book altogether. You’ll need to do this as soon as your passport runs out of pages.

To request new passport pages, you need to send a signed letter requesting one. Along with this letter should be the completed DS-82 form. Filling in this form will allow you to send your passport application by mail. But in instances where are you ineligible to apply by mail, you’ll need to complete the DS-11 form. When using the DS-11, you will submit this form in person, along with your letter to the passport office.

When submitting your form by mail, make sure that you choose a traceable method of delivery. This ensures that your documents are received by the intended recipient. Also place your documents in an envelope that isn’t easily damaged, to ensure that it is in good condition once it arrives at the passport office for processing.

All in all, it’s easy to put in a request for extra United States passport pages. First, you need to know what your passport requirements are in that you only have two to four remaining passport pages, or you are a frequent traveler. Your situation will then determine the type of procedure you need to go through. Knowing how to add passport pages can’t get easier than that.
