A better location to travel too for romance is Venice, Italy. The city does seem to have a bit of a smell though which can be a problem.
Quiet
For peace I would go for somewhere like Spain as you can rent a nice private villa for two or of course New Zealand, parts of that are very quiet. New Zealand has a lot of countryside walks on offer and I cant think of anything nicer and more relaxing than sitting around a Spanish poolside for a couple of weeks.
